Handshake

Handshake is a free online career hub designed specifically for college students and recent graduates. It connects students with a wide range of job opportunities, including internships and full-time positions, and is used by over 1,400 universities and 650,000 employers.

Howard Payne University uses Handshake to help place students in both on campus and off campus jobs and internships.  If you haven’t already, please take time click on the link below, create your profile, and see for yourself the positions that are available on campus and nearby!

The Career Center will be open every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for career planning and counseling, personality and interest inventory assessments, cover letter and resume writing, job searches, and a variety of other services.

Having served HPU for 32 years and contributed grace, humor, wisdom, excellence and leadership, Dr. Auvenshine will share with students the secrets to his success and how the Lord continues to use him to make a difference in the lives of all who know him. If your career includes becoming a minister, teacher, counselor, or friend, come expecting to learn from the best, and leave encouraged and loved.

Jacket Closet

Looking for that perfect pair of shoes, suit, tie, vest, or dress for that upcoming job interview; or simply browsing for a great deal. Come visit the Yellow Jacket Clothes Closet.  We have what you are looking for at no cost to you.

The Yellow Jacket Clothes Closet (YJCC) is an on-campus ministry founded by Mrs. Melinda Hines that provides free professional attire to HPU students. 

The YJCC can be accessed by you anytime, come by the Student Experience Office for key access.  The YJCC will also host open house events twice a semester from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on September 11, November 13, February 12, and April 16.  The events take place in Jennings Hall Pod D (across from Health Services). All students are welcome to attend!  It is really amazing!

The Student Career Center is dedicated to providing a warm, comfortable and inviting place for students to come relax enjoy a drink or snack and discuss life-long career aspirations and find strategies to accomplish their goals.  From discussions about forming a Major to completing or revising a resume, our student peer counselors are here to encourage, pray, and help in any way they can.
